Mercury

New Version! (r36)

Mercury is a lightweight task launcher for Linux - its only dependency is SDL, which, if you haven't got it, is a quick install. It was originally designed for the EEE PC where installing Katapult, for example, breaks the current distribution setup.

New features:
  • Works in Easy Mode and other distros
  • Implemented frequency counting so most-used items are suggested first
  • Several bug fixes
Download the BETA copy of Mercury here: mercury.tar.gz To install it, follow the instructions below:
  • Open up a Linux terminal, e.g. xterm or konsole
  • make a directory where you want to install, e.g. mkdir ~/mercury
  • go to that directory cd ~/mercury
  • unpack the file thus: tar zxvf mercury.tar.gz
  • run the script update-database.sh (i.e. type ./update-database.sh)
  • read the readme.txt file!
